Vote Yes on Amendment 6

What is Amendment 6?
Amendment 6 is being presented to reinstate the $3.00 court fee that was established by RSMo 57.955 in 1983. This fee was assessed to only those who were found guilty of a crime in Missouri and the funds were used to support the salaries and benefits for current and former sheriffs, prosecuting attorneys, and circuit attorneys to ensure all Missourians have access to the courts of justice. The funds collected also helped to create the Missouri Sheriff's Retirement System.
Thirty-two years later, in 2015, a lawsuit was brought against the retirement system stating the $3 court fee was unconstitutional due to retired sheriffs having nothing to do with the administration of justice. After a battle through the court system, it is now up to the citizens to decide. If you agree with Amendment 6 and vote YES, then RSMo 57.955 will be reinstated, and we will be able to collect the $3 charge again.
This is NOT a NEW TAX or LEVY.
